No. No! This isn't how it was supposed to go!
There wasn't supposed to be a sacrifice, you already almost died once recently, she didn't need you dying again!
For background knowledge, Annabeth and you were sent on a mini side quest by Ares to get his shield back from Hephaestus amusement park.
Well, at the time you guys didn't know it was Hephaestus amusement park. But now you do, because of the golden throne, the one Hephaestus used to trap Hera? Yeah. That's the one. And now one of you had to sit in it to get the shield back
"I'll do it." Annabeth states, starting to walk to the throne when she's stopped by you.
"What? Wait a minute." You stop her, pulling her back and looking her in the eyes.
"Whoever goes in, isn't coming out. That seems pretty clear." She retorts.
"I know, that's why I said wait." You respond.
"This isn't the Arch, Seaweed Brain. You're not pushing me into the stairwell again." Annabeth says, she can't let you try and sacrifice yourself again.
"Yes I am." You say, determined.
"I'm not gonna let you this time." Annabeth tells you, looking into your eyes. Gods, just how could you be so selfless! "It doesn't work that way."
"It's why you're here." You blurt out.
"Excuse me?" Annabeth comments, what did you mean why she was there?
"When I was choosing my team, I told Chiron I needed someone who wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice me if the quest required it." You pause. "He agreed. That was you. You were right. I can't believe but the fates were right."
You continue on, "There's no getting around this. We dodged at the Arch, barely but...maybe this isn't something you can dodge forever."
No. How could you ever think of sacrificing yourself like this! You were valuable to the quest, to her. "The Oracle chose you. The gods chose you!"
"Stop! It isn't about that." You argue.
"What could it possibly be about if it isn't about that?" She asks. You were starting to be important to her. An important girl in her life, the daughter of Poseidon that she has unspeakable feelings for.
