Life was so hard with anxiety, considering you knew it was kinda rooted in you from the start.
You didn't have the best of families, Shidou knew that. They weren't the most understanding. But they did try, sometimes. Being an accident means happening completely by chance. It wasn't like you asked to be born, right? If only it had never happened, you thought. Your mother would treat you like you were a sin to her, forbidden to indulge in. No matter how much you yearned to be like other kids, laughing and playing with each other. She made you believe they weren't good to play with even though you wanted attention, love, and less shouting. It hurt knowing she didn't actually seem like she wanted you, even if she claimed otherwise.
It was like a dam broke, finally releasing its water as the restless gushing of pain flowed through. Your tears, salty and filled with pain in every drop, fell from your tired eyes after every gasp of air you took; you were drowning in it. You believed you couldn't be forgiven for being so... useless, so afraid that someone else would leave, like your loved ones in the past. You couldn't be abandoned, not again. All because your mother lashed out at you again. The words, "I'm sorry" kept running through your mind, sending you into something like an episode. Always ending up numbed and quiet. The silence of your room that followed after was almost liminal to you. Like it just knew.
Shidou was downstairs after laughing on the phone with Sae Itoshi, when he heard your ached and silent sobs from your room. He walked to your door in curiosity, before slowly opening it to find your curled up form next to your bed. His firefly and best friend was sad again...? He couldn't have that. Shidou hung up the phone and put it on your nightstand before walking over to you. "There you are, firefly... What's got you all upset? Sit up for me. It's okay." He gently took you into his arms, holding you up from the floor while sitting. It's like he just knew you like the back of his hand.
