I tucked the blankets onto the twin mattress and smoothed out the sheets before I put the pillows on top. The side of the dorm that was mine was now filled and decorated. It wasn't much, but now that all my stuff was unpacked. It felt almost like my old room.

I sighed and sat down on my chair. I looked over at the empty half of my dorm. The whole space wasn't very big. Each side had a twin bed, a desk and a small closet, as well as some shelf space. There was also a small mini fridge that sat in between both sides. I didn't mind the cramped space I was mostly just ready to get started on this next chapter in my life.

I wasn't sure who my roommate was going to be, but I wasn't excited to meet them. I had come to campus a little earlier than most people were expected to be here, just to get settled in. And honestly to get out of my house a little bit sooner. I wanted to beat the noise and get settled in peace.

I was self aware enough to know that I was a quiet person. I preferred my solitude even in high school. Sharing a room with someone wasn't going to be ideal, but it was definitely the cheapest option.

... it wont be so bad, I'll probably rarely see my roommate... I thought.

The turning of a key in a lock stirred me from my thoughts. I looked up. The knob turned and the door opened. I wasn't sure exactly what I had expected out of a roommate, but this wasn't it.
