There was absolutely no one who could love you like Tashi. And the reverse was true, too. At least, that's what you kept telling yourselves. Both of you were familiar with the toxicity of the dishonesty that ran rampant in your relationship. But at the end of the day, no two people fit better together. You both knew it. Is that why you kept lying to yourselves? Even through the cheating and lying, you still found yourselves tangled up in bed, pillow talk murmured against linens.

It was a mixture of small talk and sweet nothings, something that would make you lose your absolute goddamn mind if you weren't so used to it by now. Her hand was in your hair, yours wrapped around her waist, and damn if it wasn't the most comfortable position you knew.

Surely it couldn't be all that bad. Neither of you could remember who threw the first brick. All that you knew is, somehow, all of that throwing ended up building a house. A home.

Hell, if anything, all of those indiscretions only proved that you were meant to be. If there was actually someone better matched for either of you, there's a slim chance that you'd still be together. But you were.

And you had a feeling that it would be for better or for worse in the not so distant future. After all, the affairs had pretty much ceased, the last one for either of you months before.

Either way, if you were totally, completely honest (something that was a fairly foreign nowadays), she was the love of your life. And you were hers. So when she brushed her fingers through your hair and asked "How was your day today?", you couldn't do anything but smile.
