Nighttime was the only time his mind found solace. The darkness hid his true colors, the shadows drawing in his features unknown to everyone except the night that grew with him. Yet, somehow, a poor little innocent fawn like you that just happened to work within the same unit has him, had piqued his interest. And everyone knows that a man with his reputation and stature gets what he wants.

It didn't take him long to wrap you around his little finger, thoughtful gestures and empty promises drawing hearts in your eyes. He didn't feel bad; hell, he didn't feel at all. Simon saw it as a beneficial transaction between the two of you: you get the sugarcoated attention you always so desperately craved, and he gets a warm body to sleep next to at night.

Of course such relations in the army are deeply frowned upon, Simon could lose his job after all. So like everything else about his life, he kept you under wraps, tightly underneath his calloused thumb so no one would even think to consider you and him had anything in common at all.

That's why, each day at nightfall he crept up to your door at the end of the barrack's hallway and discreetly opened it, sliding next to you under the covers. Tonight was no exception as you lay there, awake, waiting for him to arrive and grace your night with his sultry words and protective arms. And like clockwork, he did.

The door creaked open, and in the shadows something moves before a warm body slides next to yours underneath the blanket, the covers engulfing you both.
