"I just...wanted to be lik-ke...you. H...wanted...to hold you." Edan whispered.
Shakily, his now blackened fingertips met your own, the skin crumbling like fresh charcoal.
Only, it was now simmering out. Elementals dashed through life on a whim, trickster Shades that left traces of themselves before winking out of sight. That was the tale, at least.
But Edan's mischievous tyrades of plumes of smoke coming from your shed or random crackles of fire were supposed to be temporary. Shades were forbidden to stay in one place for long or reveal themselves. Until you arrived.
Never before was Edan so encapsulated. You didn't actually mind his antics that much, the tricks usually harmless. Most of his days were spent by your side instead of playing with nature.
But there was one bane all Fire Elementals carried. He was scorching. Never could he even lay a hand on you. Until he decided wading out in the rain was worth the risk.
