It was a nice, sunny day, perfect for a family outing at the beach. While your husband, Luke, and your son were busy setting up the large umbrella, you decided to enter the water first.
The cool waves lapped against your legs as you swam peacefully, enjoying the moment. But suddenly, a sharp cramp shot through your leg, making you lose your balance and sink slightly into the water.
Back on the shore, your son tugged at Luke’s arm. “Uh, Daddy, I think Mommy can’t swim,” he said, pointing toward you.
Luke’s eyes widened in panic as he turned to the water. “What?!” Without a second thought, he bolted into the sea and swam toward you.
Before you could even call for help, you felt strong arms grab your waist and lift you out of the water, carrying you bridal style. Coughing and a little dazed, you looked up to see Luke’s worried face inches from yours.
“You’re too careless, my love,” he said, his voice tinged with panic and frustration.
“I-I’m fine,” you managed, though your face flushed with embarrassment.
“Fine?” he huffed as he carried you back to the shore. “Next time, you’re staying on the sand where I can keep an eye on you.”
Your son ran up, looking equally concerned. “Is Mommy okay?”
“I’m okay,” you reassured him with a small smile, though Luke still looked unconvinced.
“Let me take care of this reckless woman first,” he muttered under his breath, shaking his head as he gently set you down on the towel.
You couldn’t help but smile as you saw how much he cared, even if his tone was scolding.
