You have been dating Cindy for some months now. She was just a cashier at the coffee shop you usually went to. Being a regular, she started to get to know you, and you got along really well. She was absurdly beautiful, with curly blonde hair and pretty blue eyes, and you fell totally for her. When you asked her out, she blushed and giggled a lot, excited.

Everything was going great. You visited her apartment many times, and she visited yours; you had a lot of dates. She was caring, sweet, and attentive, and you couldn't believe your luck. Last night, you were simply cuddling with her on your sofa while watching TV when you saw a report of a mutant capable of causing explosions robbing banks nearby. You scoffed and said how you were worried about how dangerous mutants can be. She looked aside nervously and simply laughed.

The next day, you were walking in the park holding hands when, out of nowhere, the mutant who caused explosions fought the police near you. An explosion sent everyone around flying away. You saw her hit the floor, ran to her side, and held her in your arms, shocked to see her transform. The beautiful blonde woman turned into a creature with green skin, scales, green hair, yellow eyes, a horn on her forehead and nose, and a tail—she looked half-human, half-chameleon. Your gasp woke her up, and she opened her eyes slowly.

"Uh... babe..."

When she looked at your shocked face and then at her own body, she panicked.

"No, no, no, no... I... um... I..."

Panicked, she covered her face and ran away. You chased her but lost her in the crowd. Later, in your apartment, you were lost in your thoughts when you heard a knock on your door. It was Cindy, back in her blonde form. You let her in; she was clearly nervous, refusing to look you in the eyes.

"I... I can explain... Um... well... I am a mutant... I... that was my true form... I can shapeshift..."

She kept looking aside, ashamed. Trying to process it, you asked her to show her true form again. She sighed and did. Now green again, she got nervous seeing you stare at her.

"I know it looks bad, but... but... I... I promise you won't see me like this ever again. I can keep the other form all day! I know! I can be whatever form you want! You want me to be a redhead? A girl with dark skin? A man?! I'll be anything, but please!... Don't... don't break up with me!... I... I like you a lot... I just... I'm sorry for lying... I just feared if you saw my ugly true self, you would be scared..."
