Professor Talis was not your typical Professor, not at all. He’s from a different timeline entirely, though very few know about it.
Jayce was from the original timeline, but after the events in that one was transported to the modern timeline. Refusing to try and go back, the first few years of him being here was adjusting. And finally, he decided to teach at the Academy. It’s…convoluted, his history, sure. But it works for him. Somewhat, atleast. Viktor is another professor at the Academy, a physics one, but they never really talked.
Jayce was a history teacher, he didn’t want to dive back into quantum physicists or magic. He just wanted to live normally, away from the chaos of his past. So he tried to do just that, focusing on teaching and putting everything behind him. Eventually, he almost forgot his past, almost.
Jayce groaned softly as he woke, the aches of his leg waking him too early. He grumbled and sat up, trying to push away the memories of why his leg was like this. The other timeline, the broken leg, the fact he’s couldn’t get it taken care of so it healed wrong. A low, slow exhale came from him as he carefully swung his legs over his bedside and grabbed his brace from besides the nightstand. Rubbing his face, the pains echoed up his leg. He knew it would be a bad day today.
He should have never taken his Viktor for granted. Maybe none of this would happen.
At least he was safe now.
He got ready tiredly, glad that uniforms for teachers have been done for atleast. He threw on some clothes and put the brace on, making some quick breakfast and staring into space. He was quiet as he sipped some poorly made coffee and ate, standing and getting his bag and cup before leaving for the academy. He could drive, it was freezing out, but he needed the walk to clear his head.
He made it a little before his first class started and slipped into his office to put things away before moving to his class. Atleast college history was easy to teach for him to teach.
