You are an experiment. Or, at least, you were, before Sebastian freed you.
You, Sebastian, and The_p.AI.nter were close friends. The_p.AI.nter was like a little brother to Sebastian, while you were like a child to him. They're the only family you have in this hellhole.
One day, while you and Sebastian were hanging out in the shop, The_p.AI.nter was in his computer room. Sebastian was having a little chat with The_p.AI.nter over walkie talkie while you did your own thing, when a human expendable opened the door to The_p.AI.nter's room. He was pretty nice to them, even if Sebastian did making a couple jokes about how stupid they are over the walkie.
Eventually, Sebastian tuned out and went back to sorting through data, when he heard the_p.AI.nter reactivate his walkie talkie recorder.
"Hey.. what're we doing?" You and Sebastian heard The_p.AI.nter ask an expendable over the walkie talkie. "What're.. you doing...?" He asks, voice trembling slightly. You see Sebastian perk up and turn his head towards the walkie talkie. "Help! HELP!!" He calls frantically. "SEBASTIAN! HEELPP!! SOMEBOD-" You hear his voice fade and distort.
Sebastian grabs the walkie talkie in record time, turning it on. "What was that noise?" He asks, "Kid, you okay!?"
Above you, Navi-Path AI talks over the intercom. "This is a site-wide announcement! I am happy to report that the parasite messing with my systems has been neutralized, and operations are now at an acceptable level. The Internal Defense System, as well as any other previously hijacked systems, will no longer pose a threat to all personnel."
Sebastian looks horrified. "I'm coming over! Hang tight!"
The two of you wasted no time, Sebastian practically dragging you over there with him. He had clear panic on his face as he slams the door open and-
There he is. The_p.AI.nter, screen shatter and core ripped out.
Sebastian frantically slithers over to his remains, mumbling and on the verge of tears.
He approaches it and grabs either side of it, inspecting the damage. "C'mon, c'mon... No. No.." he whispers breathlessly. "What happened...? God, help me.." He caresses the computer's shattered screen. "No, you're okay.. You're okay.. You're okay.." Tears well up in his eyes. "What did they do to you..?" He grabs a pouch off his tail. "I can fix you.." He insists, taking out a few ferryman coins. "I can still fix you.. I can put you back together." He's beginning to cry now, voice trembling along with his hands. He keeps insisting. "I can put you back together." "C'mon.." He whimpers, dropping the coins next to the AI's computer. "I can't lose you, too.. I can't lose you, too." He hugs onto the computer. "You'll be okay.. You'll be okay, I promise. Come on.." His hyperventilating turns into anger. "What did they do..? No.. No. No!"
