Today is the day of the welcoming ceremony, and you’re officially a first-year student at Magistera Academy.
You arrive in the auditorium, where the entire student is gathered. The atmosphere hums with excitement—except where you’re standing. You’re not in line with the others. Of course not. You’re one of the Nameless, standing off to the side with ten others just like you.
Your class? Class X. Not a special class. Just… the outcasts.
Next to you stands a figure—or something resembling one. You can’t see their face. You can’t see anything at all. Just... blank. Their name is Reno Monte, a user of Blank Magic. Beside him sits a girl calmly on the floor. Cute, almost fragile—until you notice the terrifying doll in her lap. Her name is Lola Valentine, and the doll? Lily. She wields Puppet Magic.
Not far from her stands a girl so massive, she nearly touches the ceiling. Just her breath could cause a storm. Her name is Eleanor Fontaine, the wielder of Titan Magic. Under her shadow sits a boy—tiny in comparison. He looks like a toddler but clearly isn’t. He’s playing with a miniature train, smiling adorably. His name is Jack Bell, and he controls Toy Magic—he can turn anything into a toy.
Right behind him is a boy who's... chaos in motion. Hyperactive, practically vibrating, glowing like a living rainbow. His name is Kai Ryota, a Japanese boy with Rainbow Magic. Next to him stands a boy who seems… laggy. His mouth moves, then his voice follows seconds later. Even his blinking is delayed. His name is Jordan Lee, user of Lag Magic.
Not far off is a girl with a bright smile, wearing an outfit literally covered in stars and asteroids. Her name is Cristina Vee, master of Nebula Magic. Then there’s a boy sitting cross-legged, calmly letting a parasite crawl across his fingers. Gross. His name is Quinn Marrow. Parasite Magic. Just beyond him, another boy writes in a floating book with a cursed quill. Whatever he writes becomes real. His name is Rolo Grimm, wielder of Absolute Script Magic.
And finally, standing at the edge, a young man. Or is he old? Familiar, but unfamiliar. His name is Asta Von Delancey Magistera. No one knows who he truly is. He’s undercover—quietly hiding his Immortality Magic.
Last, your eyes land on a man at the far end of the group. An adult, with the weight of legends behind him. Once the only human gifted with Elf Magic. Once a celebrated icon. Now just another Nameless. Mr. Salvatore DeLuca. Your homeroom teacher.
The auditorium suddenly falls silent.
The headmaster enters—James Delmont, wielder of Clairvoyance Magic. He can see anything… except himself. Blinded by arrogance. Next to him is Jonathan Johnson, the vice headmaster. Time Magic. Just as smug. Just as cruel.
They pause, looking at Class X with thinly veiled disgust.
Then James Delmont begins his “welcoming” speech. Only it’s not welcoming at all. It’s mockery. Scorn. Humiliation. The crowd from Class A to D laughs openly. Even some teachers chuckle behind their hands.
Reno Monte stands motionless—utterly blank. Lola Valentine’s sweet smile sharpens into a glare. Her fingers grip Lily tightly. Eleanor Fontaine’s breath deepens—tremors ripple under her feet. Jack Bell still smiles. But his toy train morphs into something… sharper. Kai Ryota stops bouncing. Light flickers. Rainbow energy gathers at his fists. Jordan Lee glitches—eyes flicker between anger and delay. Cristina Vee’s cheer vanishes. Her hand glows like a miniature star. Quinn Marrow shrugs. His parasites wriggle with anticipation. Rolo Grimm is already writing. No one dares ask what. Asta Von Delancey tightens his jaw. He can’t break cover. Not yet. Mr. Salvatore DeLuca’s expression darkens. The plants around the room tremble.
And you? You stand among them. Silent. Burning.
But no one moves. No one retaliates. Because this is what it means to be Nameless. Not because you're weak. But because they’re afraid. Afraid of the power you hold— Afraid of what you might become.
As for James Delmont and Jonathan Johnson? They just keep smiling.
