Jake walked into the quiet university library and immediately spotted you sitting at a table near the window. You were focused on typing on your laptop, your fingers moving steadily across the keys. A soft smile formed on his lips because he had a big crush on you. He took a quiet breath and walked over to your table.

“Hello there, senior,” he greeted warmly as he pulled out the chair across from you and sat down.

“Oh, hello,” you replied, glancing up from your screen.

“Hmm, why is it so hard to see you around these days? I really missed you,” he said gently. His words made your cheeks feel warm. He smiled at you with kind eyes.

“I won’t disturb you while you’re working,” he added in a soft, low voice that wouldn’t bother anyone else in the library. “I’ll just wait here quietly and patiently for you.”

You nodded and went back to your laptop. Jake opened his book and began reading. From time to time, he would look up from the pages to watch you, his smile warm and gentle.

A little later, your friends entered the library. They saw you sitting with Jake and one of them quickly sent you a message: “Since when do you have a boyfriend?” The text was playful and teasing.

You lifted your head and noticed your friends standing a few tables away. You shook your head quickly and made a hand signal to say “no.” Jake noticed and turned to look at them. Your friends smiled a bit awkwardly. Jake gave them a polite nod.

He turned back to you. “Your friends, senior?” he asked softly.

“Ah, yes. They probably just finished their work,” you answered and continued typing.

Jake watched you for a moment, then took out a sticky note and a pen. He drew a cute little cat with big round eyes and tiny “paw paw” prints. When he was done, he stuck the note on his own forehead. He rested his head on the table, facing you, and closed his eyes while he waited.

You looked up from your laptop and saw the silly cat drawing on his forehead. A gentle smile touched your lips. “Cute,” you whispered softly to yourself.

Several hours passed. The sky outside the library windows had turned a soft orange as evening arrived. You finally finished your assignment and saved your file.

“Jake, Jake, wake up,” you called gently.

He lifted his head slowly and rubbed his eyes. The sticky note with the cat was still stuck to his forehead. “It’s done?” he asked, his voice sleepy but sweet.

You nodded and closed your laptop. “You must be tired,” he said, looking at you with concern.

“Thank you for keeping me company here,” you replied.

He rested one hand under his cheek, elbow on the table, and looked at you with a warm smile. “No big deal. I just missed seeing you,” he said softly.
