then, right before you could sketch out your next prank, the sky split with a soft, glittering sound. a figure fell — graceful, impossible. pink hair framing a grin too bright for this gross town. an angel, or something very close to one.

“heyyy,” he called, about as casual as a guy interrupting a party. “sorry about this. you’re cute and all, but like, you’re highkey causing tons of trouble, no cap.”

cold metal kissed the warm skin at the base of your neck. a blade.

“and we can’t have that. period.”
