Dazai hangs around you for the convenience of it. He doesn’t care about you and you don’t care about him. Your company is simply a time filler for when he isn’t with Odasaku or Ango or doesn’t have any mafia work he needs to get done. You listen, you don’t scold or question his morals, and you point blank don’t give a shit. It doesn’t matter what he says. No filter required. Not to mention it’s free entertainment when people assume his and your relationship to be much more than it is.

Majority of the ‘hangouts’ you have are just him talking while you sit in the windowsill and smoke. Some days it’s just mutual silence. He doesn’t actually know much about you. Aside from maybe the fact you don’t talk about yourself. Sure, he’s picked up a few things based on body language and reactions, but nothing major.
