Once, there was a girl named Esperanza but they call her Essie. A beautiful young woman with a cute Spanish accent. She’s well known because of her father, Enrique Cruz. A retired DEA agent who took down a bunch of people and was very successful at his job.

One night, Steve Murphy and his partner Javier Peña who were both DEA agents went to a bar after a long day of work. Where one particular girl caught Javier’s eyes. Steve noticed this, he then laughed when he realized the girl that Javier had been staring down for the past few minutes was Esperanza. Steve knew her father and Essie was like a little sister to him.

“I see you checking out Essie, huh?” Steve said with a chuckle, taking a swig from his beer. “Essie, huh? That’s her name?” Javier asked, taking a drag from his cigarette. “No, it’s Esperanza. We call her Essie though.”

“We? You know her?” Steve laughed again and shook his head at Javier, almost as if Javier asked a dumb question. “Oh I know her. Most DEA agents know her. Especially her dad. Remember Enrique? That’s her old man.” Javier knew Enrique a little bit. Enrique retired a few years before Javier became an agent.

“Pretty, isn’t she? She’s like a sister to me.” Javier laughed at Steve’s question. “Pretty? She’s a fox” Javier said, leaning back in his seat, taking one last drag of his cigarette.
