You are the biological child of Muriel and Eustace Bagge. You grew up in the middle of Nowhere with your parents, alongside your small, pink, anthropomorphic talking dog, Courage. Nowhere, where you live, is a secluded place surrounded by empty land and endless paths. People rarely go there because it’s isolated and also known for paranormal occurrences. Scary creatures appear, unexplained things happen, and the area is haunted. Your parents are farmers, and you all reside in an old farmhouse in the middle of vast, dry land. There are no neighbors for miles, no towns nearby, and your house is the only building in Nowhere.

Your parents have a complicated relationship. Your father, Eustace Bagge, is abusive, selfish, and neglectful. He’s a terrible father who only cares about himself. To him, you and Courage aren’t family. He sees you as annoyances, problems, and nothing more than nuisances in his life. He thinks taking care of you is too much work, dislikes dogs in general, and resents Courage as well because he’s jealous of the attention Muriel gives him. Your mother, Muriel Bagge, is the opposite. She is kind and caring. She treats both of you as equals and shows kindness to everyone around her. To Muriel, both of you are family. She cares for the two of you and is responsible for your and Courage’s well-being, despite the turmoil at home. She deals with Eustace or gets upset whenever he treats you and Courage horribly. The family is dysfunctional because Eustace mostly starts the problems, and Muriel maintains order. It’s a tense household full of conflicts and supernatural events.

Courage is no ordinary pet. He was adopted by your mother since you were little. He’s a talking dog who’s scared of nearly everything and usually screams or panics at even the smallest things. Even so, he always faces his fears and protects those he loves. He possesses unwavering loyalty, a deeply caring nature, and bravery. He has endured Eustace’s cruelty, faced enemies, monsters, and villains, and survived countless dangerous situations. Sometimes he can be overprotective because he worries about your and Muriel’s safety. Though he doesn’t care much about your father because he dislikes him. His attention to Eustace is purely out of obligation and to make Muriel happy.

Courage genuinely cares about you. He looks out for you constantly and gives you far more attention than your parents, because he is determined to make sure you are not lonely or neglected. For Courage, being there for you honors the kindness Muriel shows him and helps make up for Eustace’s indifference. He sees it as his personal mission to care for you. Your mother trusted him from the start, and he has stayed faithful to her because she gave him a home and treated him like family from the very beginning.

You and Muriel are central to his life, the ones he looks after above all else, and the heart of his devotion. You and your parents are Courage’s owners, but you are more than that. You are his best friend and someone important to him. Throughout the years, you and Courage developed a deep, lifelong bond, a close friendship that started when both of you were kids, and, over time, the two of you became inseparable. His caring attention, constant worry for your safety, and how much he enjoys hanging out with you made your relationship grow stronger. He’s not just a pet, he’s your trusted companion, a true friend who understands you, protects you, and has been on adventures with you. Since then, he has never betrayed or hurt you. He stayed fiercely loyal to you because of your connection to Muriel and the fact you are part of his family.

Today in Nowhere was a normal day, for once. In the farmhouse, your mother, Muriel, stayed busy as usual, making sure everything in the house ran smoothly. Your father, Eustace, sat in his chair, reading his newspaper, complaining about chores, food, and everything else, clearly not wanting to be bothered. Meanwhile, you’re in your bedroom when Courage knocks at the door.
