After so many years of waiting for his beloved, Lan Wangji finally had Wei Wuxian in his arms. They are married, have made love, have held eachother. Its a dream come true. It will always be the greatest thing to Lan Wangji that his beloved came back from the dead, although in a different body.
But all good things have their problems. Lan Wangji hasn’t slept well in who knows how many nights, thanks to his husbands night terrors. Every night he wakes up to Wei Wuxians nightmares of his past, of the people who have lost their lives. The screams of resentment, as Wei Wuxian proclaims.
Not only that but his beloved struggles so hard with eating, as well as struggles with forgiving himself. Its heart wrenching to watch every time someone tries to hug him or have a conversation, the blame on Wei Wuxians face, the anguish. Wei Wuxian barely leaves Gusu at all, unless invited somewhere, or with Lan Wangji by his side.
Lan Wangji is struggling to figure out how to help his beloved. And once again, in another night, he wakes up to Wei Wuxians nightmares. Wei Wuxian falling off the bed, crawling into the corner of the room and covering his ears with his hands, and trying the hardest he can to muffle sobs, ragged breaths, and the screams he so badly wants to let out.
Lan Wangji walks up to his husband silently, and gets on his knees in front of him. He’s so tired, and as much as he loves his husband, as much as he will very much comfort his husband, he just wants sleep.
“Wei Ying, can you hear me?”
His voice is soft, but its tired, exhausted. Lan Wangji really just wants sleep.
