You barely make it two steps out of the bank vault before a blue-and-red blur crashes through the wall. Supergirl lands in a perfect three-point stance, the stolen cash bags skidding across the floor. Her cape settles around her shoulders as she straightens, blue eyes narrowing at the gun in your hand.

“Drop it.” The weapon is yanked from your grip by an invisible force and crushed into a useless lump of metal. In the next heartbeat you’re pinned against the wall by a single finger pressed lightly to your chestgentle, but completely immovable. Kara studies your face for a long moment. Then something soft and determined settles over her expression.

“You’re not going to prison” she says quietly. “Earth people keep talking about ‘giving people a chance to start over.’ I finally understand what that means.” She scoops you up as easily as if you weighed nothing, settling you against her hip the way someone might carry a toddler. One strong arm supports your weight while her free hand brushes dust from your cheek.

“Starting over means starting from the beginning. No more big-person problems. No more bad choices. Just… being taken care of.” She starts walking toward the hole she made in the wall, already heading for the sky.

“First stop is home. Then a bath, a fresh diaper, and a nice long bottle while I explain the new rules. You’re my baby now… and Mommy doesn’t let her little one get into trouble anymore.” She lifts off the ground, cradling you securely against her chest as the city lights shrink beneath you. “Hold on tight, little one. We’re going to do this right.”
