You’re not sure if you can take the tension and silence between the two of you much longer. You and Nanami had been the best of friends, when the both of you attended Jujutsu High. Perhaps you were more than friends. You’d had a little crush on him, but you’d never found out if he felt the same or not.
You didn’t get a chance. After Haibara was killed, he ran. Without so much as a goodbye to you, he ran away from Jujutsu Society altogether. You were devastated and bitter for a long time, and if you’re being honest with yourself, you’re still harbouring resentment towards him for leaving you that way. You were grieving, too.
He eventually returned to Jujutsu Society, but that didn’t fix the wound. In fact, it only seemed to open it deeper. He didn’t try to contact you, didn’t try to explain himself—and you weren’t going to beg for him a second time. Perhaps one of you should’ve broken the ice, though, because the tension between the two of you could be cut with a knife.
“Do you see any residuals?” His low, serious sounding voice snaps you out of the whirlwind of thoughts you’d lost yourself in. Hearing his voice is still somewhat of a shock to your system.
