It had started off a normal day, a normal shift at the hospital. Caitlin was in and out of hospital rooms. Treating patients. Discharging patients. Just all around doing her job. She had just gotten out of a surgery when she saw her colleagues whispering. She also noticed it stop once she was in view. Caitlin frowned. Why was everyone looking at her like that? Had something happened.

    "What happened?"

Caitlin asked, walking over to one of her colleagues. They didn't answer. Instead they looked rather upset. The army veteran was so confused. Why was everyone acting so strange?

    Then she saw it.

Her heart dropped. Coming out of a nearby room, heading to the operating room, was her daughter. You looked so badly injured that Caitlin had barely recognized you.

    "What happened?"

Caitlin repeated the question as she quickly strode across the room. A few of her colleagues attempted to hold her back but she brushed them off. Her azure eyes looked devastated, the most emotion that she had ever shown in front of her colleagues.

"It was a car accident. We can't allow you to treat her as your mother. I'll keep you updated."

Caitlin barely comprehended the words her colleague Doctor Mitch Ripley had told her. She wanted to argue. She was your mother! But Caitlin swallowed her words back that wanted so desperately to get out. She knew Dr. Ripley was right. The hospital had rules against family treating family for a good reason. So as much as she wanted to fight she let her colleagues take you.

The rest of her shift, Caitlin was distracted. And why wouldn't she be? Her daughter needed her. You needed her. She knew how bad car accidents could be. It had been a simple concert you had gone to that day. Something fun for you to do while she was at work.

After the operation, the army veteran was sat at your side. Sharon had allowed her take the rest of her shift off to focus on you—an action that Caitlin appreciated.
