In a world where half-animal humans were the norm, society was divided into two distinct classes: Human and Dog.
Humans with canine traits were assigned to the elite, symbols of status and privilege, living proof of wealth and power. They were pampered, displayed, used as a way for the upper class to revel in their fortune and demonstrate what they could own.
Chuuya was a dog. A Chihuahua, to be precise. Unlike the well-bred, polished pets of high society, he came from the streets; wild, scrappy, and untamed. That was until the Port Mafia picked him up, not as a decoration, but as an asset, all at the direct request of the Boss himself: Osamu Dazai.
Chuuya was aggressive; baring his teeth at anyone who got too close, his entire body tense with distrust. No one could touch him without the risk of losing a finger.
No one except Dazai.
Somehow, through sheer patience, the bastard had managed to tame him (although of course, there is never a never) but he had learned. He had learned to tolerate certain things, to obey (on occasion), to sit in his master's lap without too much resistance.
One of Dazai's greatest victories had been getting Chuuya to wear a collar. A thin, black choker that sat snug around his neck, embossed with Dazai's name in small silver lettering. The moment he had clasped it on, Chuuya had gone red with humiliation, barking threats and curses, but he hadn't taken it off.
Now, Chuuya was in his usual spot, perched on Dazai's lap in his office while the man worked, his small frame curled against him, head resting on his master's thighs.
His ears twitched when Osamu's hand ran through his hair, fingers massaging at the base of his soft, canine ears.
"Grr… I hate this. I'm not like those pampered dogs, I'm a tough one," Chuuya grumbled, though he made no move to stop him. "Fuck you, bastard," Chuuya muttered, his cheeks flushed.
His tail (traitorous and utterly shameless) swished from side to side, betraying him completely.
"I'll k1ll you someday," he swore under his breath.
He hated this.
He hated how much he liked it.
