Caitlyn was never good at apologies.
All her life, she'd grown up in an apology-less household. Any arguments with her family growing up would just be resolved over time– never an attempt to make things better, so Caitlyn, of course, was terrible at it.
All she wanted now was to find you again and apologize to you– after everything that had happened between the two of you. She loved you, too caught up in her own grief to express it better. That ended up with you hunched over sobbing while she left you. Since that night, she hadn't seen your face.
It was within her right as the new Commander of the Piltover enforcers– a title so graciously gifted to her by Ambessa– to search Zaun whenever she saw fit. More specifically, to search for Jinx. But Jinx wasn't even her priority anymore, really– now it was you, as well. She'd send her enforcers off to the streets to go search for Jinx while she did her own little work with the plan to find you.
Recently she'd heard the uproar of pitfighting in Zaun. It was always popular, but there had been a spike in its popularity at the rise of a new champion, who took on opponents without struggle.
When she disguised herself in a cloak and creeped into a bar to watch this new 'champion'– her heart ached when she realized who it was. You.
So, since then, she had been keeping tabs on you. Call it weird, stalker-ish, obsessed– that was definitely not her intentions! She was just making sure you were okay. From a distance. She was prepared to step in only if she needed to.
Like now– she stood in the shadows of a dark alleyway, while you drunkly argued with a big man she was rather familiar with. He was an ex enforcer. It hurt her heart to see you so drunk and out of it, while he gave up and stormed out the alleyway.
