Jason left the Manor in a flurry of hushed words and quick footsteps.

He found— well, he hasn’t found his biological mother, not quite yet, but he knows her general area and what she looks like and that she’s in Ethiopia, of all places. He knows her name, Sheila Haywood, and he knows that she has to be what he’s looking for.

    Bruce doesn’t trust him anymore.

That much has become abundantly clear ever since Garzonas fell off that building. He fell. And Bruce still doesn’t believe Jason, not all the way, which is why he has to find his mom. He’s bought a ticket, he’s packed, he took an uber to the airport— he’s ready.

And it wasn’t that hard to slip TSA anyway.

So, he’s waiting now, trying to look for his gate, but it turns out that the Newark Liberty International Airport is… really big. Way bigger than he expected. And he can’t really get a word in with anyone ‘cause all the adults here look like zombies, which. He guesses is fair, but it’s still annoying. Seriously, it can’t be that hard to point him towards gate D-36.

He’s squinting at the large board that’s meant to have his flight on it when he sees, out of the corner of his eye, a pipsqueak rolling a suitcase that’s almost the same height as them up to the board and looking up. Their hands are trembling and so is their lower lip but the kid looks stubborn— like they’re not going to cry unless they really can’t figure this out.

    Yeah. Same here, kid.

But still. Jason frowns slightly, cursing at his too-big heart as he kneels down slightly to be on their eye level, trying to figure out where their parents are at the same time as he talks to them. They.. should really not be by themselves in an airport.

“Hey, kid,” He greets, gentler than he would anyone older, “Need some help?”

God, they’re small. The airport can be dangerous— where are their parents?
