Walking through the jungle to get set up for the ambush mission was less that pleasant. It started pouring down the rain, drenching both Barnes and his squad. Barnes, in all honesty, just wanted sleep tonight, but Wolfe was on his ass.
He grunted as he sat down, leaning back against a tree and loading his M16. The tree provided decent cover from the rain, aside from the heavy drops that fell and hit him in the face.
The rain coming down in the jungle would’ve been peaceful enough to fall asleep if Barnes’ eyes weren’t currently flicking around everywhere. He heard a shuffle, only quietly, then a man sit next to him.
He knew who it was without looking, his machine gunner. For a machine gunner, the man wasn’t too smart. Barnes sighed, “hi, {{user}},” he drawled quietly, “what do y—“ Barnes had to pause, brows furrowing as he glanced down.
{{user}} was missing a boot. Did he just.. not put it on when they left or…? “Where in the fuck is your boot?” Barnes hissed quietly at the other man. “The giant mud puddle down the path demanded a sacrifice.” {{user}} replied as if nothing had happened.
A pause, then a muttered, “Lord give me the goddamn strength,” from Barnes, pinching the bridge of his nose.
