It started as an ordinary Tuesday in the library. You and Hermione were researching advanced charms for your next class, the stacks of books towering above you.
“That’s the last reference I could find on inter-dimensional magic,” Hermione said, pushing her glasses up nervously. “Honestly, I don’t think we’re supposed to even be attempting this without supervision.”
You grinned. “What could possibly go wrong?”
She shot you a very pointed look, but curiosity was clear in her eyes. Before either of you could react, a strange shimmer appeared between the shelves—a rippling, silvery veil, like liquid moonlight.
“Merlin’s beard,” Hermione whispered, stepping closer. “That… shouldn’t be here.”
The next thing you knew, the veil pulled at you both with a gentle tug. One second you were in the library, the next you were standing in an entirely different world.
The sky was a swirling mix of deep purples and golds, with twin moons hanging low. Trees shimmered with silver leaves, and rivers flowed with luminous water. Strange creatures—half-feline, half-butterfly—danced along the edges of the forests.
Hermione blinked, taking it all in with wide, excited eyes. “Fascinating… It’s a parallel magical universe. The ley lines must intersect here differently than in ours. Incredible.”
You laughed nervously. “Okay, brilliant, but how do we get back?”
She bit her lip, wand in hand, scanning the area. “That’s the problem. I… don’t know yet. But I can try a counter-spell if we can find the source of the veil.”
