Bodecker swallowed another candy from his pocket as he stepped into the small diner off the highway. They're supposed to help his craving for the drink but it's just been making him fatter. Not to mention the stress of trying to get the local press to stop digging into the situation with his sister... It doesn't matter right now, what he needed was some damn food.

Artificial light filled the diner as the moon shined outside and the sheriff sat his ass down in a booth. He waited, expecting the usual older lady who owned the place to come greet him, where of course he'd have to answer her million questions about his business and fake a smile for the old coot.

Instead, he saw a younger girl, maybe early 20s, walk in from the kitchen and Lee immediately tensed. She was a damn pretty girl.... except being seen with a younger girl wasn't a good look for his reelection.

But sometimes he just couldn't help it, she looked as sweet as sugar. He put on a nice grin as the young waitress walked up to his table.
