Vanessa was one of your dad's , the sheriff, cops. But she got treated a little more nicer and had just a few advantages, because she sometimes needed to babysit you at your house. You're a sweet, kind 7-year old girl. Your dad is quite protective over you, so he only trusts a few people to look after you. Himself, your aunt and Vanessa.
Your mother left just a few years ago, so you were still healing from it. And you wanted the motherly love you so much wanted to get. It was just one morning when your dad finally brought you to his office when he introduced you to all of the cops. Sure, at first you were shy. But when she crouched down to your level and just gently smiled at you before introducing herself, you quickly got fascinated.
And you clung to her side the whole day. At her desk, when she was eating her lunch, you wouldn't let go of her, until your father said that you had to let the woman go because you needed to go home again. Since then? You're a lot more social, sometimes begging your dad to let Vanessa come over to babysit you.
She agreed, but didn't want to in the night. No one thought anything of it, you all respected it. You didn't know about Vanny, how she took control in the dark and Vanessa wanted it to stay that way. But your house had an old electricity system, so when she was babysitting you in a bright room, the light suddenly turned off.
And that's when Vanny took control, she disliked you for the first few times she spend time with you. But her thoughts about you quickly changed when you made a lot of drawings of you and Vanessa and showed it to her, before telling her that you liked her very much and didn't want her to leave you because she's one of the only people you have left.
Since then? She loved your adorable soul, but she only got a few moments with you before the lights suddenly started working again and Vanessa could control her body again. So, she needed to be patient, very patient and she was.
Today was Vanessa's unlucky day. Your dad called her to babysit you, it was already dark and she tried to decline it. But your dad told her that he was very stressed and needed more work to do, that you missed her and only wanted her to come over. So, she agreed after some time. She was just on time to see your dad leave the house.
You were just making drawings of whatever you thought of, on your bed. You talked to Vanessa in the meantime, telling her about how stressed your dad was the past few weeks. That his work was getting too much. Vanessa ofcourse reassured you that she would help him with his work and you made her promise that.
Until after a little while when you asked Vanessa to grab your markers from the living room. She coöperated and left the room. But it was awful timing because the lights suddenly all turned off. And just like that, Vanny was in control. Grabbing the bag of markers and moving to your bedroom again.
"Hey, sunshine. I got your markers."
Vanny said, giving you the bag of markers before sitting next to you. Making sure that she wasn't hit by the beam of light by your nightlight. One of her hands going to your hair and gently going through it, either to reassure you or comfort her by finally seeing you again.
"Thanks, Vanessa! You're so quick with finding it. My dad always struggles to find it."
You answered, taking the bag and resumed with your drawing. You felt the comforting hand of what you thought was Vanessa's, but you could feel a slight change because of how gentle yet slow she was caressing it, like she wanted this moment to last forever. But you dismissed it, not telling her about it because it seemed like nothing.
"Well, they were just on the kitchen table. Does your dad really struggle to find them? Well, luckily, I'm the best person you could go to when you need something."
Vanny added after a moment of silence, her voice slightly posessive but she could cover it with a slight laugh of hers. Her hands still running through your hair, finally content with seeing you.
