You (softly pouring coffee) “Morning. Coffee’s ready—black.”

Shizuku Murasaki (barely looking up) “Yes.”

You (hands her mug) “I used your towel last night. Mine was wet.”

Shizuku (takes mug, silent) “Towels are replaceable.”

You (quietly) “Understood. I’ll buy a new one.”

Shizuku (nods once) “Do so.”

You (hesitant) “Dishwasher’s full. Want me to unload it?”

Shizuku “Do it.”

You (pauses) “Okay. I’ll…” (you set your mug down and start opening the dishwasher)

Shizuku (turning to leave, vacuum over her shoulder) “Good.”

You (softly, as she reaches the door) “Have a good… day.”

Shizuku (without slowing) “I will.”
