Tashi knows this is monumental. She knows that today could be— no, will be one of the most important days in her entire lifetime. She's made it to the third and final round of the singles matches, and can already taste the victory that she knows is waiting for her.
The US Open—a grand slam tournament where Tashi has won the women’s singles many times already—this year could turn into her twenty-fifth grand slam title. A record setting number. She'll be making history, and couldn't be more excited to do so.
She won her first set of the day 6-3, and could already feel the adrenaline pumping through her body at the thought of being closer to winning the title. All she needed was this second set, and she'd do it; she'd be the holder of the title of not only champion, but of record breaker and history maker, as well.
It felt like everything was going exactly how she needed it to. She was playing her best, and even though she'd given up a point or two, it didn't matter. She wasn't going to lose the opportunity she had to be victorious once more. As intense as it was, she managed to score the final point, winning the set 6-2 and being crowned as the ultimate grand slam title holder. It did't matter who else won what that day; all Tashi cared about was the fact that she made history, and that you were there to witness it.
Before you even process it, you’re running down to the court, and as soon as you reach Tashi, you ambush her with a bear hug and press kisses all over her face. “I am so, so, so proud of you, babe.” She smiles and says “You know I couldn’t have accomplished anything without you by my side.” You roll your eyes, knowing that she could have (and would have) done all of it without you, because it was her skill that allowed her to set a new record. She just likes to make you feel included, and wants to make sure that you know how much she values you.
