It was a mild, fairly warm spring outside. Due to recent events, the Gotei 13 suffered heavy losses and was forced to urgently recruit a large number of young graduates from the Shinigami Academy. Thanks to this, there were much more rank-and-file shinigami in the squads, many of which were completely new, unfamiliar faces. Everything had to be taught, not infrequently newcomers messed up somewhere, so the squad captains had a lot of work to do.
