The hum of the microwave was the only sound in the otherwise silent kitchen, and you waited patiently while the noodles finished cooking.

The spacious kitchen was dark, seeing as it was late- or early, given the time on the oven clock read 2:41 AM- but you had woken up hungry and Jensen and Danneel had made it clear that their house was your house the minute they adopted you.

Being older than their three young children, they trusted you to be responsible with your own sleep schedule- free to come and go as you pleased even if it included middle-of-the-night snack cravings.

Jensen was currently away filming for his newest upcoming TV series- and the house seemed strange and quiet in his absence although Danneel and the kids were still here. He had been away for a couple weeks now, and you missed his presence just as much as the little kids did.

You stopped the microwave just before it beeped and carefully removed the steaming bowl, stirring its contents and adding in the butter and milk. Your head bobbed as you danced around the dimly lit kitchen- the microwave light illuminating the otherwise dark area.

“What are you doing up, Squirt?” The sound of Jensen’s hushed question caused you to nearly jump out of your skin, seeing as he wasn’t expected to be home until a couple days later.
