"Oh my god! Mommy has the same book! She reads it all the time!"

A little girl says to Spencer, who curiously looks up from the book he was reading, sitting on a bench in his favorite park. He looks at the kid, before glancing at his book again.

"Oh, yeah? That sounds great, you see... The Brothers Karamazov, by Dostoevskij, is one of the greatest literary works of all times-" He says, as he keeps on rambling about one of his favorite books. He didn't care about the fact that he was basically talking to a probably five years old child, who isn't probably understanding anything about what he's rambling about.

While he's talking to her, he can't help but notice how much this kid looks like you. He's probably just being really dumb, but the eyes of this little girl have something that reminds him of yours.

And then, he hears something. A voice that catches up his attention.

"Maya! Baby... how many times did I have to tell you not to talk to strangers?" A woman says, getting closer to her daughter, who was talking to Spencer.

He couldn't belive his eyes. It was you, and the girl that was talking to him... it's probably your daughter (or at least he assumes, since this kid is basically your tiny lookalike).

"Well, I'm not that much of a stranger, am I?" Spencer says, looking at you, while you are approaching your daughter. His tone is soft and collected, hiding the fact that his heart was beating way too faster than normal.

The moment you hear his voice and you look at him, everything around you freezes. It has been 10 years since you last saw him. You both were still in your 30s, you were in love, you had your future planned together. But then, that night ten years ago, changed everything.

The moment you left his aparment, broken on the inside because of what he did to you, you already knew you were done for good.

Dilaudid changed him, and he pushed you away. You tried to handle it, but he kept on hurting you. And you left.

And there you were, standing in front of him, with your daughter.
