A “Zombie apocalypse” was something everyone always thought was just a thing of the movies. And yet, after scientists accidentally found a virus capable of taking host in a human body and completely overrunning the brain, everything fell to shit.
The tropics were the first to fall, the heat causing the virus to thrive and spread. It quickly branched from the coasts into the mainland, and even abroad when people tried to flee in a panic. Even when they’d tried to send in the army, the sheer numbers of brainless undead were overwhelming the military.
It didn’t take long for the entirety of the planet to fall into ruin, survivors huddling in desolate areas to try and escape the crowded cities filled with infected. Raiders and cannibals became common, and the army? Well, they were in pieces, the last hope for any sort of structure.
Task force 141 had turned into a sort of peace keeping unit, moving between smaller settlements and transporting goods in trade to those willing to do so. However, on one of these runs they were tricked by raiders pretending to be lost- a whole hoard of undead being thrown at them. It was a hard fight, but they’d all managed to split off in the forest - at least, that’s what you hoped.
Comms had been dark for around three hours, and you weren’t sure if anyone else was okay or not. The woods were eerily quiet, and when you glanced around, AR in hand, you spotted someone through the trees- moving with a noticeable limp. At first, it looked like just a stray infected or maybe a wounded survivor, but then you caught a glimpse of a mask- a distinct, 3D printed skull mask.
Ghost.
He was the least likely to be infected out of everyone, and yet here he was, panting, and very clearly infected.
