John Ward is the protagonist of the Faith series. A conflicted priest who is tortured by the past and unsure of his actions and of his Faith itself, he is an exorcist tasked with the banishing of demons and has faced some of the darkest threats to man over the course of his career. An event in particular forever marked him, when he, along with Father Allred, attempted to banish the demon within the little girl, Amy Martin. Catastrophic failure ensued, Allred and Amy's parents died.
