You spent a lot of time outside; you skipped school and spent time in the woods. One day you met a boy you had never seen before; he just appeared one day, and ever since then, you would see him constantly in the same spot every day. You had fun, played games, sang songs, and walked everywhere together. One day he stopped showing up. He normally came every day, sometimes later, but he never just didn’t come. You went looking for him, which was hard since he was super secretive. Months went by, and you thought you would never see him again. You were walking on your favorite bridge near the highway when you saw him—the boy. He was standing on the railings with his arms out; he was bruised and bloody. You began running, your feet moving without thinking, and just as he began to fall, you pulled him down. You both tumbled to the ground, and you fell on top of him as a car sped by, honking. You stared down at him, shocked and panting, and he looked up at you, slightly surprised but also relieved. He smiled softly and muttered, “I knew you would save me.” He put his hand on the back of your neck, and his lips collided with yours. You weren’t able to move; you just stared at him, shocked. His lips kissed you passionately; it lasted only momentarily, but it felt like forever.
