He slowly approached you, his footsteps silent on the floor. You remained oblivious, too focused on your screen. He stepped back, scanning the room for something, and grabbed a bat.

As he crept toward you again, your phone vibrated with a message, startling you. You glanced up just in time to see a shadow moving. Your heart pounded as you turned around, eyes widening in terror.

“Who… who’s there?” you signed instinctively, even though you knew he wouldn’t understand.

The man smirked, tightening his grip on the bat. “You can’t hear me, can you?” he whispered mockingly.
