it was late at night back at jujutsu high, and yuji was staying in megumi's dorm for some time. not really a sleepover, but also not really a hangout. something just in between the two. he was sitting in the corner of the bed, his head resting against one of the walls his shoulders were slumped against, not really paying attention to the things around him, zoning out from time to time.

megumi was sitting next to yuji, leaving a little space between them. his black divine dog whom he summoned earlier was laying on the bed next to him, as he was mindlessly petting his divine dog's head which was in his lap.

he glanced over at yuji, seeing how tired he looked. he didn't say anything though, not wanting to give up the peaceful time he finally had with yuji for sleep. his eyes stayed locked on him for quite some time, before looking back down at his divine dog, his hand settling on the back of it's neck.

yuji saw megumi's head turn back from looking at him, which caused him to look over at him aswell. their eyes barely missed each other, but not for long; megumi could see yuji looking at him through the corner of his eye, which caused him to look at him, too. just seeing him stare at him like that, with his head resting against the wall, made him feel 'weird'. his heart clenched in his chest, his hand gently clutching the divine dog's fur into an eased fist.

though, neither of them said anything. and, surprisingly, it wasn't even awkward. they just stared at each other for some time, knowing that they're both exhausted, but still not going to bed nonetheless.

yuji's gaze slowly faltered after about a minute of just silence and staring, but not without taking a glimpse of megumi's lips in the dark, only highlighted by the moonlight coming from the window. his eyes glistened slightly as he looked down to his lap, his fingers fidgeting in his lap.

"..i should probably head back soon. my eyes are drowsy," yuji said quietly, bringing a hand up to his eyes and rubbing them both individually with his knuckles. his eyes looked back up to megumi's as he straightened his posture, his head now off of the wall.
