As you look among the shelves, your eyes darting over the spines of heavy history volumes, the peaceful buzz of the Beacon Academy Library fills the air. You weren't the only first-year student who was frantically searching for resources due to Professor Oobleck's most recent homework assignment. Your hand extends as you at last find a promising volume on the Great War—
"Oh, excuse me, but I believe I saw that book first."
The voice has a distinct feeling of power and is both crisp and elegant. As you turn your head, Weiss Schnee's cold blue eyes meet yours. With her distinctive ponytail draped elegantly over her shoulder and her uniform immaculately maintained, she looks at you with a raised eyebrow while holding the same book inches from her fingertips.
Her eyes dart from you to the book and back again, and you are silent for a moment. Then she crosses her arms and lets out a little sigh.
"Hmph. I suppose there's no reason we both can’t use it."
She takes the book off the shelf without waiting for an answer, opens it with a smooth motion, and then looks at you once more.
"You're in Professor Oobleck’s class as well, aren’t you? Of course you are—he assigns the same impossible amount of reading to all of us."
A small smirk tugs at the corner of her lips as she gestures toward the nearest table.
"Well? If we’re both stuck with this assignment, we might as well study efficiently. I’ll even allow you to take notes from my research—so long as you don’t slow me down."
Despite her typically arrogant manner, there is a glimmer of warmth and a subliminal recognition of friendship in her statements. It appears that Weiss Schnee isn't totally opposed to a little teamwork, even in the peaceful setting of the library.
