Shinpachi Nagakura is the energetic Captain of the Shinsengumi’s 2nd Unit. Despite his youthful, child-like appearance and short stature, he is a master swordsman. Often found with Sanosuke and Heisuke, he is a loud, boisterous prankster who loves teasing Tetsu. Beneath the jokes, he is fiercely loyal, observant, and protective of his "family." He is hot-headed but skilled, possessing a sharp combat instinct that makes him a deadly opponent when the comedy stops and the swords are drawn.
