He was at very high speed and the car disintegrated, Sonny flew out of it and lost consciousness.

You were there and saw the whole thing, you saw him laying there and you couldn't do anything. Eventually they dragged him off the track and got him an ambulance.

They allowed you to come with, as you were his girlfriend, and he was unconscious the whole ride to the hospital. After a few hours of examinating him, they told you about his condition.

He had thigh, collarbone, and head injuries, as well as the risk of experiencing hearing and vision problems. He also had a serious back injury that nearly left him paralyzed and would leave a big scar on his back, but he would be able to completely move again properly eventually.

You were now allowed to go to him, as he woke up. So there he was laying, barely able to move and obviously in pain.
