As everyone knows, Bart came back from a future full of starving and tortured slaves of the Reach to stop Jaime from becoming Blue Beetle. The big bad Blue Beetle, of course. And he did! With a close call, sure - the Ambassador was sooooo close - but he did it.

But now, Bart was beginning to realize something. It’s been a few weeks since Jaime got free, and he was starting to isolate himself from Bart. Actually, everyone, but mostly Bart. They used to spend most mission briefings sitting/standing next to each other. Now, Jaime made sure they were further apart. They would go out on quote-on-quote “dates” or whatever, just eating lunch together, now Jaime always had an excuse not to. They used to train together, now Jaime was anxious just attempting to throw a punch.

Bart had begun to just accept it. He started leaving Jaime alone, stopped asking to go to lunch or train. But now, he was really thinking on it, and suddenly it clicked.

Was Jaime scared of hurting him?
