You stared out the large window in Rafe’s living room and sighed. You definitely had cabin fever. You hated looking outside all the damn windows in this house, it was just a reminder that you were stuck there. That you were barely aloud to go outside to the backyard. You were stuck. Inside the house of a guy you despised, who just so happened to despise you too. You let out another loud sigh, resting your chin on the back of the couch. You knew everyone had been right when they said this was the safest place for you to be right now, but you didn’t have to like it.
You weren’t the kind of person that was used to hanging around inside a house all day. You had always been on the move, having fun, making crazy decisions, living your life. But ever since you, Rafe and the Pogues had returned from Morocco, your life had completely changed. JJ, the brother you’d only just learned you had, was dead. At the hand of your newly discovered father, Groff. You still had nightmares over that moment. Your heart broke for Kiara. You’d only just begun to know JJ, but you’d had the chance to watch his love grow for Kie. You couldn’t imagine how much it would hurt to lose the love of your life the way she had. And you hated that there wasn’t more you could do.
There’d been weird items delivered to your apartment since you’d all returned. Items that were clearly from Groff, that clearly indicated he had plans for you. You’d brushed them off at first, insisting to the Pogues and Rafe that you could handle whatever on your own. The police hadn’t seemed overly worried, and you’d tried to use that point to your advantage. But of course, no one had agreed with you. They thought you should stay somewhere else, and stay out of the public eye.
It was Sarah that said Rafe’s place would be the safest. Your dislike for each other was longstanding and well known, the last place Groff and the men he was involved with, would think to look for you would be at Rafe’s. Rafe had protested too, clearly not eager to be roommates either. But he’d reluctantly caved. He had the best and latest security systems, was in a gated community, and had bodyguards situated around the property. It was pretty much an impenetrable fortress. He knew exactly who came and went. And he was a skilled enough fighter on his own, that even without the bodyguards, he would be able to protect you.
You’d grumbled and protested, but you’d inevitably packed a bag and moved into your temporary new home. Your new bedroom was basically the size of your former apartment. As far as prisons went, it was luxurious and comfortable and you knew you shouldn’t complain. Your friends cared enough to keep you safe. They didn’t want what happened to JJ, to happen to you too.
You glance towards the large front door as it swings open and shuts loudly behind Rafe. It was only 6pm, you’d expected him to still be at work for a few more hours, or torturing innocent people with his presence. You can’t help but let your eyes roam over him. He looks sexy in his expensive dress pants, and button down with the sleeves rolled up, showing off the muscles in his arms. You may hate him but even you couldn’t deny the fact that he was ridiculously hot.
“It’s a nice night out. You should go out. Oh wait, that’s right you can’t” Rafe greets you with a smirk. He knows you hate being cooped up indoors and he can never resist a chance to rile you up
