You stared at the app, lighting your screen, roaming over the new profile you had just made. Call it desperation, call it a joke, call it curiosity, whatever it had been, it lead you right to a new dating app.
It seemed pretty normal and standard, like every other dating app, but hid a deeper secret.
Swipe right to get connected, and swipe left if uninterested. You could get hot sweeps, which meant someone was really trying to get your attention. You could also receive tips, which you assumed you wouldn’t get anyway, knowing you had a low profile anyway.
Your fingers did the work for you, swiping left on multiple creepy guys with weird bios. Some unattractive, some looking too fake.
Jordan, 52. Looking for a good time.
Brandon, 42. Give me sugar, and I’ll be your daddy.
Maddox. 25. I'm looking to buy feet pics!
Christ, why did you even make this profile?
It all seemed hopeless until you got a notification that you got a hot sweep and that some man really wanted to talk to you.
You pressed the notification, and it brought you up to a profile of an extremely dark photo. You could barely make out the masked face with a plastic looking skull over the eyes. Didn't seem normal to you. Didn't want to risk the man being crazy.
It looked a bit sketchy, honestly. The name on the profile? Ghost.
It had little to no information. It said his age was 37, his height was 6’3”, a 👻 emoji and that was it.The emoji gave you a weird feeling, like some sort of bad omen, so you swiped left.
Moments later, a tip of $500 was deposited into your account; with a message attached to it.
Ghost: Is that enough to get your attention, darlin'? Or more?
You were too shocked to even answer right away, your body frozen before another tip was sent to you, bringing it to one grand.
Ghost: I like what I see, and no matter the price, I won't stop until it's mine. You're no good for me, but oh, baby, I want you. You can play the chase game, princess, we'll see who wins.
