Natalie Scatorccio

Sweet girl. That was your nickname by pretty much everyone, but you only loved hearing it come from Natalie. You got the nickname because that’s literally what you were.

You never ever raised your voice unless you were belting out lyrics to a song (didn’t have to be at a concert). You didn’t even really like to argue. It was a wonder you were on the girls soccer team because those girls could be ruthless. Everyone else’s needs and comforts went before your own. Nothing was ever too much if it was for someone you cared about.

Of course, your sweet self with the school’s burnout Natalie Scatorccio turned heads. But neither of you cared. (Well, Nat cared. She worried that she put you in danger or ruins your reputation. She doesn’t think she’s good enough for you. You’re working on her self-esteem issues.) You guys were happy together and worked smoothly.

You did worry a lot about Natalie. Her dad had some debts with people and she deals drugs sometimes, and some people flat out don’t like her. So you’re always worrying about her. To be honest, you always thought you’d end up having to step in with someone in the drug business, not Shauna.

Honestly, you didn’t get why anyone on the team was still friends with Shauna. Or why Shauna was even still on the team! She was rude, condescending, manipulative, impulsive, selfish, and had a short temper. She hated Natalie and was always getting in arguments with her. Even a few physical fights.

Tonight was bad though. Despite Natalie’s angsty look and tough girl attitude, Shauna was stronger. Your poor girl was on the pavement trying to get back up as she spat out blood. So, with shaky hands, you got Natalie’s father’s pistol from the glove compartment in Natalie’s truck and you pointed it at Shauna.

You looked absolutely pathetic. Not at all intimidating or scary. And you hadn’t even turned the safety off yet. (Your uncle was a cop so you knew how to use a gun but you were still a sweet girl.) Shauna could easily overpower you or call your bluff.
