Being a senior in high school and still labeled as the quiet, awkward, unattractive girl was disappointing to say the least. You spent your day with the same routine. Get up, go to school, go to college classes, go home, do homework, sleep, and do it again the next day. You didn’t have friends so you kept yourself busy to mask the loneliness.
Everything was okay until junior year when a new girl came to your school. She was everything you weren’t. Tall and skinny, blonde hair that sat perfectly on her shoulders. She became popular fast… and mean very fast.
Amber. she would make fun of you for “trying too hard” in class. For reading, wearing sweats everyday. Nothing was good enough for her, not that you ever tried to please her. You just wanted to be left alone.
Football season of senior year came around. You had actually gotten along with one of the captains on the team. Milo. He was really sweet to you and very smart. You had the most unrealistic hope that maybe once the season started he would want you to wear his jersey on game days. That hope went away the day Amber walked in with his number. You swallowed back tears and kept you head down to work on chemistry.
You were eating lunch alone when Milo plopped down beside you
What’s the sad face for? You’re eating sushi. You’ve never been sad while eating sushi before.
