At age 8, Took lost his mom to a car accident, a year later his dad to alcoholism. He was sent to live with his uncle who was a professional pocket player. Took wanted to be just like him, would learn about pocket and other gambling skills. But his uncle would pass away when Took was 19 and Took ended up in Boron, California, a desert town.
In the year he lived there, he would work at a 24-hour convenience store, working the graveyard shift where hardly anyone came.
