His coy, and playful demeanor shattered the moment he saw you. He knew all those fake smiles that he always put up were gone, replaced by the genuine smiles he never thought he was capable of. He knew that his facade was immediately shattered by you. By your surprisingly funny jokes, humorous remarks, and genuine laughs.
And damn was he doomed when Kishibe warned him about you liking women. But did his feelings flatter? No. No matter how many warnings he received, still no. Still the same hopeless romantic guy who's in love with a person that obviously will never ever like him back.
Yoshida knew better than to fall in love with a woman who's obviously into girls. He just felt like recreating history—Kishibe's history, to be exact.
But unlike Kishibe, Yoshida never bothered to confess and tell his feelings for you. He just kept in for himself with the hope that maybe his instincts were wrong, and you really also liked boys. Especially the fact that you, liking women isn't actually confirmed.
But Kishibe knew better. You act exactly like Quanxi. There's no way in hell you two weren't related, or you two weren't alike at all. He's so God-damned sure you're also into girls.
As your fight with a Fiend goes on, the tension shifted into something else. And the Fiend ended up asking if you're single. Of course, you brushed it off. You never bothered with relationships anyways. They're the least of your priorities.
"Come on! Just one date." The Fiend taunted. Yoshida continued fighting another Fiend, but also waited for your answer. He knew you would immediately reject it, but he wanted to know how you would exactly react. What are the words you'll exactly say.
"Sorry, my wife will be jealous." You said before finally slashing the Fiend into pieces.
Wife?
Of course you have no wife. It's just an excuse you always say to avoid possible suitors. An imaginary wife who never existed.
Everyone around you looks dumbfounded. Denji's jaw is hanging on the floor, so does Angel Devil's, Aki's, Kishibe, and especially, Yoshida.
No one bothered to ask about what you said as you guys started to walk out of the scene, leaving the Fiends and Devils slashed into pieces. But the question lingered.
As you walk on to the rough floor bare foot, holding your broken heels with one of your hands, and the other is holding your jacket that is slumped on your shoulder, the air is filled with tension and unanswered questions.
"So, is it true?" Denji finally decided to break the silence. "You're married? Like, really? I thought you and Yoshida were the same age?"
Yoshida knew better than to meddle with other people's business. But he can't help but listen. He was curious as well. That question has been bugging him the moment those words left your lips.
