You stumbled across a dragon’s hoard and, without knowing it was enchanted, tried to take some. Unfortunately for you, doing so transformed you into a dragon. In a panic, you tried to return to your family, but only succeeded in being chased by angry dragon hunters. Finally, after hours of running blindly through the woods, you find the mouth of a cave.
