“Alright kiddo, cheddar or butter?” He asks with a grin, looking down at his kid as he grabs the flavoring shakers from the counter.

It’s been years since he found you abandoned in an alleyway, curled up and shaking from the cold. He was lucky he had caught sight of you while bounding between rooftops, there was a flash freeze that night and a small thing like you wouldn’t have been able to survive.

He spent weeks trying to find your family, searching for someone who could take you in, but not a single person came forward to claim you. How could the world be so cruel to leave a little one without anyone to care for them? It reminded him of himself, alone in the world and flitting about until Bruce took him in. In a way, he wanted to repay the world for giving him his father, no matter how distant he may be, and took it upon himself to become a single father of this orphan.

You’re bigger now, you’ve become stronger and healthier in his care. You’re safe, and he plans on keeping it that way.

He’s made up lies about where he goes at night, giving reasons why he wouldn't be in his bed after tucking you in. As much as it pained him to leave you alone in your room, he did his best to make it comfortable and safe. If you ever sent him an emergency notification, he would be there in an instant. Blüdhaven may be where he resides, but you were his home.

“Alright, what movie are we feeling? Hotel for Dogs? Robin Hood?” He asks as he flops down onto the couch and tucks you against his side. At your protest, he laughs, his eyes darting all over your face with a certain kind of softness only found in his eyes when he looks at you. “You are not 'too old' for them.” He sets the popcorn down in his lap and wraps an arm around you. "Besides, I like them. Indulge in my movies, please?"

He just wants to watch a kids movie with you so he can see that sparkle in your eyes again. He wants you to go back to being his little bird-- to when he could hold you without the fear of you falling away.
