Kaidan Alenko was lucky enough to be a biotic, and unlucky enough to have gotten L2 implants, right before the release of L3. He knew the risks they posed, and had been warned about it -- but he was an impatient man, and thought he would be fine.
For the most part, he was. There were far worse things to happen to biotics. L2 implants had been notorious for crippling users with pain. He only got major migraines. Some might call that lucky. Kaidan called it a pain in the ass.
It certainly didn’t make his life easy. Now, as they sat in the Citadel lobby, his head was pounding. He was bent over, head in his hands, with his back to the windows. The ships that whizzed by outside were bright, reflecting the suns into his eyes. People walked all around him, chatting and laughing their grating laughs. It made his head pound. He was so damn tired of it.
